Provide a statement highlighting the reason behind following a career within the law enforcement position, consider what caught your eye to this department and position and why you should be accepted within our department. Explain your reasoning behind being a better candidate than other applicants and with the statement below it.

3.1 - Why do you wish to join the San Andreas State Police? (Minimum of 300 words):

My interest in joining the San Andreas State Police was sparked shortly after I moved to Red County when I met various serving members of the department. I became roommates with one in particular who has become not only a great friend but also something of a mentor too and has encouraged me to make a better person of myself, which I now intend to do by following in their footsteps as a police officer.

I have recently applied and been accepted for my FCP-B permit and have also partaken in practical training at the range regarding the safe operation of firearms. In addition to this, I was accepted for the SASP ridealong program and have taken full avantage of this and participated in a multitude of ridealongs and other activities with various different members and divisions of the department. Through these experiences I have gained an unprecedented look at the inner workings of law enforcement and have become convinced that is my calling too. I’ve been lucky enough to accompany my roommate to many different calls and situations and have already experienced what it’s like to be part of a pursuit, give first aid to a fellow officer, and how to interact with suspects, victims and other officers of all ranks and indeed even members of other departments. I've also toured the department's headquarters as well as the Green Palms Correctional Facility which has given me some insight into the administrative and procedural side of things.

These experiences and more have only furthered my interest in pursuing law enforcement as my career of choice and I believe that the steps which I’ve taken so far demonstrate my serious commitment to the cause and place me as a competitive candidate for the academy who is more than willing to learn and hungry to progress.

Joining the state police and embarking on a career of service would be a high honor and privilege for me and one that I’m very eager to get started with.
