HIGH COMMAND WORDS | NEWS | COLLEAGUES OF THE MONTH | PROMOTIONS & COMMENDATIONS
Image

Troopers,

I think we can all agree that this has been a very unusual month for everyone.

This month we announced the exemption of duty reports due to the ever growing pandemic known as COVID-19. We strive in this administration, to ensure that people have fun and enjoy themselves without the worry and hassle of having to commit to a certain amount of duty when there may be more pressing matters and other commitments elsewhere that must take a priority.

Like I stated in our most recent memorandum, we will continue to monitor the situation and determine what to do next.

I urge everyone to stay safe at this troubling time and wish everyone the best.

Thank you,

LIEUTENANT COLONEL ADAM HOBBS
Hello Troopers,

Firstly, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for the hard work and dedication you all give to this department. At times, it is easy to become disheartened and demotivated may that be from not being recognised correctly by your superior for something positive you've done or missing a promotion you tried your hardest to get. I am writing to you now that I am proud of the work that each and everyone of you does and even prouder of the determination you show to work even harder to achieve your goals. We have a very busy month ahead and we all need to continue to work effectively together as we welcome a new batch of recruits into our Department.

Sincerely,

MAJOR HALEY STEPPS
Dear Troopers

A tiring but exciting month. Due to external pressures, we’ve had some of the most hectic shifts in recent years, yet you’ve all handled it flawlessly. This month you all deserve praise for the exceptional dedication shown, with some troopers going so far beyond the line of duty a special mention to just one is impossible.

I’d like to praise what is a recently revived Sergeants team, we’ve got a good team flourishing with motivation and experience, driving this department in the correct direction. I can announce some further exciting changes to you all today.

The SiT Scheme has officially ended. Upon review with the Deputy Sergeant Team Director, Lieutenant I Shields, we feel it’s outdated and no longer serves the troopers put within it. In these rapidly changing environments, we need a team that can be rapidly adapted too. As such, promotions from Master Trooper to Corporal have been re-opened to the Command team, with Corporal now serving as the highest NCO rank. Upon promotion to this rank, you may if interested, begin completing your Sergeant training, once complete you are eligible for promotion at any time.

What this means is at any one time we have a handful of highly trained Corporals ready to fill gaps in the Sergeant team as they form. Keeping us as proactive as possible.

This new scheme is scheduled to be launched mid-April, and I wish all our current Master Troopers luck within it.

Many thanks for your continued service.

DUTY REPORT RESTRICTION TEMPORARILY LIFTED
In light of recent events as stated in the Colonel's Statement and memorandums, the High Command Executive collectively voted to temporarily lift the duty report requirement. Regular updates will take place every two weeks to determine if the restriction should be lifted.

We hope that this temporary lift will ease the pressure on those unable to commit to the duty time during this challenging time.

SASP HANDBOOK 2020 VERSION
The Command Team are actively working on a more up to date version of the department handbook. We don't have a time frame on its release just yet but rest assured it is coming very soon.

If you're unsure of any department procedure, please consult your on-duty ALPHA unit.

RCRA Race Event (Almost) Champions
We were thrilled that our department came second in the RCRA event held earlier this month. A big thank you to Sofia Suarez, Haley Stepps, Matt Wilson, Katelyn Steele and Elliot Steele for forming a team and coming second in the competition.

Correctional Officer Frank Mosley

Congratulations to CO Mosley for his hard work and determination in supporting the Green Palms Correctional Facility. He has been actively dedicating his time and efforts to the division throughout the last month when we've been struggling with a lack of staff.

Very good to see certain people stand out from the crowd in times of need, so thank you for that.

Trooper Katelyn Steele

Although Trooper Steele only joined us from the most recent concluded academy batch, she has already proven to be extremely assertive in the field, racking up extremely high arrest rates, duty reports and general paperwork. She has also been recognised for a number of internal and external commendations for her commitment to her job.

Trooper Steele was also entrusted with her new position as Warden in the Correctional Services Unit. A very important role to play in the department, but I have all the faith that she will do an excellent job with her previous experience as a CO in this unit.

Sergeant Timothy Fisher

Although only recently rejoining the Sergeant's Team earlier this month, Sergeant Fisher has proven to be an extremely important asset to the department with his exceptional input to the restructuring of the Field Training Unit.

The Command Team overwhelmingly voted to issue the Sergeant of The Month award to Sergeant Fisher for his forward-thinking approach to our progressive objective within the department.
