Provide a statement highlighting the reason behind following a career within the law enforcement position, consider what caught your eye to this department and position and why you should be accepted within our department. Explain your reasoning behind being a better candidate than other applicants and with the statement below it.

3.1 - Why do you wish to join the San Andreas State Police? (Minimum of 300 words):
I'd like to express my optimism in joining the State Police's academy program firstly, because ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to join some sort of agency that works for or alongside the local government. This is because I want to make a difference in the community that I live in. I've thought about the negatives and positives that comes with working for each different government agency and after a lot of thought and consideration, I have found that the State Police is best suited for me. I'm confident that I'll meet all the requirements to become a probationary trooper and I hope you'll consider me a worthy candidate for this position. In university, I studied psychology and law which I believe personally gives me a big advantage over other applicants applying for the same position as I already have a considerable amount of knowledge on how to deal with situations and deescalate them. I've also got experience working with the SASP by taking part in the ride-along scheme as well as currently serving in the traffic support division.

I believe I'm a suitable candidate for this position because I have exceptional computer & investigative skills, I will be able to complete all paperwork on time and to a high standard. I'm a reliable person and great to depend on when it comes to performing my duties to a high standard. I understand that the majority of the work I do for the State Police will be confidential and I can assure you that I'm a trustworthy candidate to keep confidential information strictly confidential. I pride myself in being able to communicate well with my peers and colleagues and I am able to present information to my supervisors or in front of a court if needed to do so. I've undergone self defence training and am confident that I'd be able to defend myself or support other troopers if ever in the situation.

One of my personal goals is to dedicate as much time as I have free to the State Police as a big thing about me has always been to make a positive difference within my community. I believe that I will be a valuable asset to the SASP and will make a difference in the department internally. Hopefully residents of Red County will develop a more positive outlook on the SASP because of this. I'm very aware that when I interact with residents of Red County that I am representing the SASP and my one main goal is to give people a positive perception of the SASP and to create stronger community relations. My professional goal within the SASP is to progress the ranks and become a well-respected trooper and hopefully one day in the future I will help train the troopers of the future! The last thing I'd like to add on is that I'm different from other candidates because I've already got a lot of relevant experience to this position. I've spent years studying psychology & now working with the traffic support division, I feel that I'm ready to take the next step and join the police academy.
